If you're planning a visit to Zeebrugge Strandwijk (a district of Bruges) for water sports activities, it's essential to be informed about the local parking regulations to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Blue Zone Regulations (June 1st – September 30th)

From June 1st to September 30th, a blue zone is enforced in parts of Zeebrugge Strandwijk. Within this zone:

Parking is free but limited to a maximum of 4 hours.
A blue parking disc (European parking disc) must be visibly displayed on your dashboard, indicating your time of arrival.
This regulation is in effect 7 days a week, including public holidays, between 09:00 and 18:00.

Failure to comply with these rules may result in a fine.

Alternative Parking Options

If you plan to stay longer than the 4-hour limit or want more flexibility, you can use one of the peripheral parking areas (randparkings) near Zeebrugge. These parking areas are located at a maximum of 10 minutes walking distance from the beach and water sports facilities.

Tips for a Hassle-Free Visit

Arrive Early: During peak seasons and weekends, parking spots close to the beach can fill up quickly. Arriving early increases your chances of securing a convenient spot.
Use Peripheral Parking Areas: Peripheral parking areas (randparkings) are often less crowded and provide ample space for longer stays. From these areas, you can easily reach the beach and water sports facilities on foot or by local public transport.

What happens after you book a lesson?

As soon as you book, your spot is added to our online calendar, where you can easily check our availability and schedule your lessons at a time that suits you.

After scheduling, you’ll receive an email with all the details you need to get ready for your session.

Need to make changes? You can reschedule your lesson up to 48 hours in advance.

When are we able to offer lessons?

We can only give kite lessons when there is sufficient wind and it’s coming from the right direction.

For kitesurfing lessons, the wind must be between SW and NE, except for NW (direct onshore, which is not suitable).

Required Wind Conditions:
✅ Minimum wind: 12 knots (4 Bft)
✅ Maximum wind: 25 knots (6-7 Bft)

Wingfoiling lessons take place at Hotel Polderwind Zuienkerke and we need different conditions for each lesson:

lesson 1- Wing handling: 12 knots averge or more. Direction S, SW, W, WNW.
lesson 2- Learn to foil: no restrictions.
lesson 3-Wingfoil: 15 knots averge or more. Direction S, SW, W, WNW.

Other wind directions are not possible because the hotel and trees are blocking the wind.

Where can I see the wind forecasts?

We strongly recommend using Windguru to check wind conditions, as it is one of the most established and reliable weather forecasting platforms.

For accurate predictions, we use:

WG model – for a long-term outlook on windy days
WRF 9 model – for short-term forecasts
AROME 1.3 model – for detailed forecasts for today and tomorrow

In addition, we also compare Windguru’s predictions with Windfinder to cross-check conditions. We use:

normal forecast for long term view on windy days
superforecast for short term forecasts

Be sure to familiarize yourself with these tools to read important information like wind speed, gusts, wind direction, temperature, cloud cover, precipitation, and changes throughout the day. Proper preparation ensures you’re ready for your lesson!

How do I schedule my lessons?

Booking your lessons is simple and can be done entirely online. After scheduling your first lesson, you'll receive a confirmation email along with login details for your account.

From there, you can access the calendar and book your remaining lessons at your convenience. You don’t have to book all four lessons in a row, you’re free to space them out.

We recommend booking no more than one lesson per day. Learning kitesurfing or wingfoiling involves a lot of information, and taking in too much at once can be mentally demanding. Spacing out your lessons allows for better retention and a more effective learning experience.

Can I book a lesson during weekends?

You can book a lesson any day of the week, including weekends! Our instructors are available 7 days a week, ensuring you get the best conditions for your kitesurfing or wingfoiling lesson.

When will I be notified if my lesson is confirmed?

We review the latest weather updates around 20:00 each evening to determine if your lesson can proceed the next day. You will receive a confirmation email with the final decision between 20:00u and 22:00u

Our assessment considers factors such as wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, and other conditions that may affect safety. While we aim to run all lessons as scheduled, quality of our lessons and safety is our top priority. If a lesson needs to be canceled, the reason will be included in the email, and you can easily reschedule through your account.

Joining our WhatsApp group is essential for staying informed about any changes or unexpected weather updates. This ensures clear and real-time communication while helping to avoid unnecessary travel.

What happens if my lesson is cancelled?

The evening before your scheduled kiteboarding / wingfoiling lesson, you will receive an email between 20:00 and 22:00 with a final confirmation on whether the lesson will proceed the next day.

If the lesson is cancelled due to weather conditions, you’ll have the opportunity to reschedule it for a later date.

Lessons are valid for two years from the date of booking and are non-refundable.

What should I bring?

Please bring:

Swimwear
Shower essentials
Sunscreen
Sunglasses (recommended for your first kite lesson)

We provide everything else you need, including a wetsuit, harness, helmet, and lycra, all included in the price. If you have your own wetsuit or harness, you are welcome to use them during your lesson.

Do I have to pay in advance?

Yes, payment is required in advance to confirm the booking of your lesson. This policy helps us minimize no-shows and ensures a smooth scheduling process for everyone.

We accept the following payment methods: Payconic, Bancontact, and credit cards. If you need an invoice, feel free to request one by contacting us at nico@clubnorth.be.

What time do I need to be present?

Please ensure you are on time for your lesson, as it will start promptly at the scheduled time. Arriving late will result in the lost time being deducted from your lesson, so plan ahead and consider potential traffic, especially during the busy summer months.

If you arrive early, you can always enjoy a drink or snack at our sports bar while you wait. Being punctual helps us stick to the schedule and ensures a smooth experience for everyone!

Sometimes, delays occur due to unexpected changes in weather conditions. Most often when the wind arrives later than expected for the first lesson. We appreciate your understanding and apologize in advance if this happens.

Where do I check in for the lesson?

For kite lessons at CLUB NORTH Zeebrugge :

head to the entrance of the experience center. If you don’t see anyone immediately, feel free to ask for assistance at the bar.

For wing lessons taking place at Hotel Polderwind:

we meet at the "artificial beach". The instructor will easily find you there.

At what age can I start kitesurfing lessons?

At our surf school, we proudly run the only professional kids’ kitesurfing school in Belgium, complete with specially adapted equipment.

Kitesurfing: Children can start learning from the age of 9, but this is not a strict rule. Feel free to visit us with your child, and together we’ll discuss the options, considering factors like maturity and weight. For younger learners (under 15 years old), we always recommend private lessons to ensure they receive personalized attention and tailored guidance. From the age of 15, you’ll join the adult lessons instead.
Wingfoiling: Wingfoiling lessons are available from 10 years old, exclusively as private lessons with specially adapted equipment to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Safety is our priority, and we ensure every student has the best learning experience. Fun fact: our oldest student was 72 years old, proving watersports are for all ages!

Will my lesson start if it rains?

We do not start lessons if it’s raining, as this can affect safety because of unstable gusty wind conditions. However, if the lesson has already begun and it starts to rain, we will assess the situation based on the wind conditions. Your safety and comfort are always our top priorities.

I want to book a lesson, but I can’t. What should I do?

If all instructors are fully booked, scheduling a lesson on your preferred day may not be possible. However, keep an eye on our WhatsApp group, as last-minute spots may become available.

Please note that we do not process individual availability requests. All updates on open slots or schedule changes will be shared exclusively in the WhatsApp group, so be sure to stay tuned!

Can I book a DUO course if I'm alone?

A Duo course requires two participants. If you are booking alone, please select a Private course instead. Duo courses cannot be booked for a single person.

If you’d like to join a Duo course but don’t have a partner, consider finding a friend to sign up with you 😉

How do I cancel my lesson?

When you book a lesson, you can cancel it up to 24 hours before the scheduled start by phone.

In that case, the lesson will be credited back to your account, allowing you to reschedule it at a time of your choice.

On the day of your lesson, cancellations are no longer possible, and your booking will remain fixed and will not be refunded!

Can I cancel my course and request a refund?

Refunds are not possible. If a lesson is canceled due to bad conditions, it will be credited back to your account, allowing you to reschedule at a time of your choice.

Your lesson is valid for two years from the booking date, giving you plenty of time to find a suitable day for your lesson 😉
